The X Factor auditions

The X Factor is a new talent search on Australian television. Produced by Grundy, the company responsible for Australian Idol, they are on the search to find truly Xtraordinary, Xceptional, Xciting talent.

Auditions kick off in Perth on November 23. It is open to all peformers - whether soloist or vocal groups - from age 16 up.

Adelaide auditions start at 8.30am on December 9 at Royal Adelaide Showgrounds, Jubilee Hall.

Performers talented enough to make the finalls of The X Factor will be divided into three catagories, solo artists 16 - 24, solo artists 25+ and vocal groups. Each catagory will be mentored by one of three judges in their quest to be Australia's next big thing. The public votes weekly live performances until the new star or stars emerge. The winner receives a recording contract with BMG.

Search for a Star Grand Final, good luck...

All the best to LHSS students Kristen Bode & Martina Marinkovic, Cate Dyer, Elias Anargyros and Chris Fusco who are competing in the AMP Search for a Singer and Battle of the Bands Grand Final this Friday night, 19 November at the Thebarton Theatre.

Good luck with your Kristen & Martina duet Enough is Enough, Chris is doing The Prayer and you'll love Cates version of How Come You Don't Call Me. Elias will knock you out as he entertains you with his showy swing number.

What a great night it will be with singer Vanessa Amorosi heading the evening giving us some fabulous starting entertainment.

The night starts at 7.00pm and tickets are available at the door for $39.00.

New Studio update...

Moving to bigger and better premises is such an exciting prospect and confirmation to us of successful business growth. We are very excited.

We are just over a week away from moving to the new Studio only 800 metres away (the close location will be very convenient for the current students) and it is progressing really well.

The painters and electricians have nearly finished. Security sysyems, signage are next, followed by carpet cleaning, new door hardware and lastly the deliveries of office and studio furniture.

The landscaping should be finished by this weekend giving me an opportunity to learn my parts for our Showcase 2004 Concert Staff Bracket. The teachers are getting together this Sunday to run through our parts. This section always makes for good entertainment.

Showcase 2004 update

17 November 2004

Our end of year Showcase 2004 Concert is shaping up to be another great show and success.

The first rehearsal was last Saturday where the students doing the group items went through the songs and harmony parts with each other.

Up till now the students have worked on their parts in their private lessons. Putting everyone together makes it fun and is quite a different experience. The students also have the opportunity to meet the other students. For the first-timers, meeting the others is a new experience, others rekindle friendships made at past concerts.

The groups items we are working are Eva Cassidy's version of Wade in the Water, Guy Sebastian's version of Climb Every Mountain, from Sister Act 2 Joyful Joyful, Christina & Britney's Fighter, Play and Toxic and the 50's classic Son of a Preacher Man, to name a few.

One highlight of our Showcase Concerts are the guys segment. Our male singers group together and do a bracket of songs with a lot of fantastic harmonies. The songs in this bracket of songs this year are Stevie Wonder's Lately, Ain 't Too Proud to Beg by The Temptations and Matchbox 20's Unwell.

We also have a Diva section. five of our most polished performers do a bracket of songs, also with fabulous harmonies. This year's songs are Destiny's Child Emotion and an acapella version of I'm Outta Love, George Michael's As and Kelly Clarkson's Natural Woman.

The LHSS youth are doing a Disney medley and the teens are doing a group of fast groovy songs by Stacie Orrico, J.Lo and Hillary Duff.

The second rehearsal is this Saturday at the Studio where the students will fine tune their parts, any movements and stage positions.

This is followed by two Dress Rehearsals before the big day on Sunday 12 December at 3.00pm at The Top Room, Arkaba Hotel, Glen Osmond.

See you there!
