Singing Tips - Posture
Posture
Sloppy posture affects breathing and also prevents you from singing at your best.
Avoid:
* Slouching. With your feet evenly under the hips, stand tall with shoulders back and down, legs relax (knees not locked).
* Lifting the chin when singing.
Try this exercise to get into the right posture position:
1) lift your hands over your head reaching up to the sky as high as you can on tip toes.
2) while in this 'reaching to the sky' position, lower your heels.
3) still keeping the body in this reaching position and lower your arms to the side of your body. Ensure they shoulders are not hunched, but instead are back and down.
You will feel a sense of chest expansion.
Now relax the arms so they are touching your thighs (not the side seams of your jeans).
Try adopting this posture position every day until it is second nature.
