Kids love singing and most love the latest chart music and songs from movies

We start kids singing from the age of 5. We make lessons fun for kids by singing their favourite songs, using microphones and performing. At the same time they are learning the correct way to sing and developing music and life skills.

What are lessons like?

We offer professional singing lesson in a caring, comfortable environment so if you are new to singing we will look after you!

We are dedicated to make you feel comfortable. We understand that you may be nervous and will quickly help you relax, especially if you are a beginner.

Step by step we will explain and demonstrate each step of singing, answering any questions along the way.

Our aim is to bring out your voice like you couldn't imagine while singing songs that you enjoy.

A CD recording of any of the lessons can be purchased from the Studio for $2.50.

Parents are invited to sit in on lessons twice a term. We let you know of these dates in advance.

What will I cover in lessons?

Vocal technique

Like most things, singing is a building block process. You will start with the basic techniques of singing and move onto the more advanced ones as you are ready.

All lessons are taken at your pace and actual content of lessons will depend on students requirements and progress.

The techniques covered are:

• breathing
• breath control
• singing in tune
• low and high note
• creating the best tone (sounding voice)
• vocal warming up and cooling down
• vocal health
• how to sing different styles of music
• how to sing in harmonies (part singing)
• how to use the microphone

Songs

You will sing songs you'll enjoy. This is determined by the likes and personal preferences of the age group.

The students will learn to sing harmonies.

To keep it fun, we have a Music Catalogue of over 16,000 songs to choose from. These include the lastest songs on the charts and from the movies.

To keep lessons fun the students are welcome to suggest songs.

The teacher chooses easier song to start with so students can practice and consolidate the vocal technique they are taught.

Performing

Four times a year the Studio holds small Performance Practice Concerts. The give those who want to start performing an opportunity to do so with the group.

The Studio's Showcase Concerts are a full scale production in december each year. They are the highlight of the Studio year. They give everyone the opportunity to perform in some capacity, according to the student's ability and experience.

How do you teach kids?

We concentrate on vocal technique to make their singing voices better with songs which are fun; songs that they like and know. As well as popular chart music and songs from movies, we can incorporate musical theatre songs and other styles.

We have concerts throughout the year and opportunities to perform to develop their vocal skills and help with character building and self-confidence

Everything in the lesson is recorded on audio tape (supplied by the student) to assist the child in practicing during the week.

We offer one-on-one private singing lessons in blocks of 10 weeks. The lessons are once a week at a set time for ½ hr.

We also offer a No-Obligation Introductory Lesson to help confirm your choice before committing to 10 weeks.

The Studio is open 6 days a week. Lessons are held every day and evening from Monday to Saturday.

How old does my child have to be to start singing lessons?
We generally take children from the age of seven but there are always exceptions.

We recommend they do a No-Obligation Introductory Lesson to assess their level.

Can my child have a singing career?

Yes, it's possible.
A singing career can take on many forms from singing with bands to being a recording artist to performing in live productions and everything in between.
A successful career requires a certain amount of talent, good training, lots of practice, perseverance, breaks and good contacts.

The crucial first step is to get them singing correctly at industry standard. Secondly, we get them on stage singing before a live audience. The third step is to develop their performing skills and stage presence.

We have the training, the facilities and the opportunities to teach them what they need to step into the industry.

As a parent, can I sit in on my child's lesson?

Sure. We recommend that you to sit in on their first lesson with us. It's actually better for your child's progress if they have future lessons on their own with their teacher. However, at least once every 10 weeks, we do invite you in to lessons when significant progress can be heard.

How can I get updates regarding my child's progress?

We believe it's important for you to be informed of your child's progress so you will receive written progress reports at the beginning and end of the year.
